The small lakes are a destination for exciting excursions to discover incomparable landscapes. A microcosm of emotions to be explored, following one’s instincts and passions, savouring their scents and flavours.
And with their marvellous landscapes, they tend to leave the people who visit them enchanted.

Meeting with the guide in Castelnuovo di Garfagnana where the tour begins. Check-In. Accommodation in the reserved rooms. Presentation of the programme by one of our representatives.
A HEALTH WALK ON LAKE PONTECOSI
A five-minute drive is all it takes to reach Lake Pontecosi. Here we can enjoy half a day of total relaxation in the cool, peaceful silence of this beautiful lake,
a magical place in a beautiful atmosphere, to observe the nature that surrounds it. A walk along the lake to the little church and the ancient bridge.

FROM STABLE TO TABLE: VISIT TO A CHEESE DAIRY
The producer opens the doors of his dairy and shows us the process of milk processing. In the late afternoon, we sample the different cheeses produced by the producer, accompanied by bread and honey.
– We have dinner in a typical “Garfagnino” restaurant with a tasting of the local cuisine.

Today’s whole day is dedicated to visiting Col di Favilla and the Lake of Isola Santa.
THE UNINHABITED VILLAGE OF COL DI FAVILLA
Our guided excursion takes us up there, hidden in the Apuan Alps, to Col di Favilla, a small village isolated from the rest of the world, in the commune of Stazzema, one of the highest in the Apuan Alps, preserved by the chestnut woods and now uninhabited for many years. It is located at 940 metres above sea level astride the wooded hill that runs from the north-eastern crest of Monte Corchia to Isola Santa and is dominated by the mighty Pizzo delle Saette. From the square in front of the church there is a beautiful view of Monte Freddone and Monte Sumbra and, opposite, there is a spring where the two paths leading to this village meet.

GREEN LAKE OF ISOLA SANTA
In the afternoon, visit to the small lake nestled between the Apennines, the lake of Isola Santa: peace and tranquillity immersed in the triumph of nature. A place suspended in time of extraordinary beauty. A paradise for fishermen.
-Dinner in a typical osteria.
-Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Today’s entire day is dedicated to visiting Lake Vagli and its surroundings.
LAKE OF VAGLI AND THE HERMITAGE OF SAN VIVIANO
In the morning, in Vagli di Sotto, we visit the suspension bridge and Lake Vagli, which, when drained for maintenance work, magically brings to the surface the ghostly ruins of a ghost town: Fabbriche di Careggine. We then take a 15 minute drive to Campocatino, a LIPU Oasis located in the splendid scenery of the Apuan Alps, situated and closed off to the north by the peaks of Mount Pisanino and to the south by Mount Sumbra. We will walk along the Campocatino Nature Trail.
This is a short circular walk, which allows you to visit the entire basin of glacial origin of Campocatino.
Starting from the “tollhouses” of the old alpine pastureland, crossing the shelves that were once worked, we arrive at the beech woods at the foot of the wall of Mount Roccandagia: a walk of about 2 hours (tot 4 km and 200 m+) towards the hermitage of San Viviano, a real wolf church, set in the rock at about 1090 metres above sea level. In this inhospitable place, the Blessed Viviano (Viano) led his life as a hermit, feeding on the wild cabbages that miraculously grew in abundance on the bare rocky walls.

Today’s full day takes us to visit Lake Gramolazzo and its surroundings.
PIAZZA AL SERCHIO THE FORTRESS OF CASTELVECCHIO
Departure at 9:00 am from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana in the direction of Piazza al Serchio. Visit to the small town, where you can admire the Parish Church of San Pietro, the Fortress of Castelvecchio and the medieval Bridge of San Michele.
LAKE OF GRAMOLAZZO WHERE THE ROCKY PEAKS OF THE ROCCANDAGIA, TAMBURA, PISANINO AND PIZZO D’UCCELLO MOUNTAINS ARE REFLECTED.
In the late morning we drive 15 minutes to Gorfigliano and visit the Museo dell’identità dell’Alta Garfagnana “Olimpio Cammelli”. This is a structure of absolute historical interest, since it is dedicated to the material culture of the Garfagnana territory, and exhibits objects and machinery relating to domestic life, peasant life and production activities such as marble excavation, dating back mainly to the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. A little further down we move, for a little relaxation, to Gramolazzo Lake where Mount Pisanino, the highest mountain in the Apuan chain, is reflected in the green waters of the artificial lake. Frequented by fishermen and bathers, the lake is lined with a beautiful promenade, equipped with a pier and a small beach.
